Principal-led engineering for mission-driven teams.
Practical software, platform, and infrastructure engineering for nonprofits that need experienced technical support without adding full-time staff. Select engagements offered pro bono or at reduced rates.

Nonprofits run on the same kinds of systems as everyone else: donor and client data, integrations held together by spreadsheets, cloud bills nobody owns, and compliance obligations that do not shrink with the budget. We set aside a small amount of capacity each year to help with exactly that work.
Three ways to work together
From a first look to ongoing ownership of the systems your mission depends on. Many partnerships start small and grow into a retainer that keeps those systems reliable, secure, and documented.
Technology review
A short, no-cost look at one system or operational concern, offered selectively.
- One discovery conversation
- A focused review of one system or concern
- A concise written summary of findings
- Recommended next steps, with no commitment to further work
Pro-bono project
A fixed-scope engagement with a clear end and a clean handoff.
- Defined scope agreed up front
- Often follows a technology review
- Ends with documentation and runbooks your team can own
Reduced-rate retainer
Ongoing ownership at a reduced rate for organizations with production systems to run.
- Scope based on the Stability or Ownership retainer tiers
- Business hours, best effort; no on-call coverage
- Fixed term, then we review together
Have funding for a technology initiative?
We scope and deliver grant-funded projects as standard engineering engagements, and can help shape the technical side of your proposal.
Where we can help
Application modernization
Building, customizing, and modernizing the applications your programs run on, plus production support.
Platform engineering
Deployment pipelines, environments, and tooling that let a small team ship changes safely and often.
Infrastructure & cloud
Reliable, secure, right-sized cloud infrastructure, defined as code and documented for whoever is next.
Workflow automation
Replacing repetitive manual processes with reliable, documented automation your staff can trust.
Applied to nonprofit work
- Donor & client data: CRM integrations, deduplication, and sync
- Grant & impact reporting: Funder reports without spreadsheet marathons
- Cloud cost reduction: More of the budget back to the mission
- Security & compliance: Access control, backups, and HIPAA readiness
- Ownership handoff: Stabilizing systems someone left behind
- Grant project planning: Technical scoping for funding proposals
A good fit if
- Registered 501(c)(3) or equivalent
- Small or midsize, with limited internal engineering capacity
- An operational or technical challenge with measurable impact
- A staff point of contact who can make decisions
- Open to us documenting the work, with your approval
- Able to give access and time for discovery
Designed primarily for small and midsize nonprofits. Larger organizations may qualify based on project needs and available funding.
What we ask
Very little. The program exists to do good work and let that work speak for itself.
- Permission to document the work: A case study and your logo among the teams we have worked with, each reviewed and approved by you before anything is published.
- A testimonial, after delivery: Once the work is done, and only if you are happy with it, we will ask for a short quote from someone who saw it firsthand.
How it works
Apply
Tell us about your organization and what you need using the form below.
Conversation & review
A discovery conversation to confirm fit and capacity, often followed by a short technology review.
Scoped plan
A written scope, term, and rate. Invoices show the full rate and the program discount.
Delivery & handoff
Principal-led work, with documentation so your team is never stuck depending on us.
Review
At the end of the term we decide together whether to continue, adjust, or wrap up.
Apply for the program
Applications are reviewed case by case. We typically respond within a week.
How capacity works
Program work is scheduled around existing commitments, and slots are limited. If we cannot take your project now, we will say so plainly and tell you when that may change.
Grant-funded projects
If your project has, or is applying for, restricted technology funding, let us know. We can help scope the technical side of a proposal, and grant-funded work is usually billed at standard rates, which keeps reduced-rate slots open for organizations that cannot pay.
Thanks for applying. We'll be in touch within a week.
